"You! said the caterpillar contemptuously."Who are you?"(34)
Being a freshman at UT, this question is asked quite often. The answer usually depends on the setting and the audience, but most of the time you would answer with your name, major, and your hometown. However, sometimes answering that question isn't the easiest thing to do. Since I have "I can't explain myself,I'm afraid, Sir" said Alice, "because I'm not myself, you see." (34)  After a while we might become unrecognizable to ourselves. In order to find out who we truly are we have to look deep inside to see who we've become. Throughout life we will go through many different stages and changes, but it's important to always remember our core values. Some core values that have carried me through my life are to treat others the way you want to be treated, never judge a book by its cover, and to always be kind. I have changed as a person and will continue to change, but I hope that these core values will stay with me throughout my whole life.
been at UT, I can honestly say I'm not the same person I was in August. I have matured, experienced new things, and have been introduced to so many different people and perspectives.

"The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it. "No room! No room!" they cried out when they saw Alice coming." (53)
Most of us have experienced a time when you felt unwanted by a group of people. Maybe it was at the lunch table or playing at recess. This can happen, because they are intimidated by you, they don't like you, or simply because they can. When you go to a new place, sometimes it is hard to feel like you fit in & belong. That is why when coming to college people usually suggest that you should join clubs and different groups on campus to feel a sense of belonging and to be part of something. Joining clubs help you make new friends, meet "At first the newcomer is distraught in the alien world, and her development necessities coping with a series of tests and trials." (572) The journey to getting to our goals in life will not be easy. There will be tests and trials every step of the way. It is important to remember how special you are as a person and if you believe in yourself you're already halfway there!
people with similar interests, and it keeps you busy. It is easy to feel like a little fish in a big pond, especially at UT where there are so many different people. There will always be people who tell you there's no room or that you don't belong somewhere.
